Oklahoma regulates mobile-home work through installer licensing. We have no license on record specific to moving a mobile home. The primary regulator is OUMVDMHC + OK Corporation Commission.

A manufactured home moving through Oklahoma travels under a Size & Weight permit for manufactured/mobile homes. A quirk worth knowing: these are issued by the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS), not the DOT — even though the rules sit under the DOT's title.

Oklahoma requires a permit for anything wider than 8 feet 6 inches. Manufactured homes typically run from that legal limit up to 16 feet wide, all of which need a permit.

Oklahoma's escort rules depend on the road. On a two-lane highway, a home over 12 to 14 feet wide needs one front escort, and over 14 feet needs two (front and rear). On a multilane highway, 12 to 16 feet needs one rear escort, and over 16 feet on any road needs two. A home 15 feet 9 inches or taller also requires two escorts.

Manufactured homes in Oklahoma are installed by installers licensed through the Used Motor Vehicle, Dismantler & Manufactured Housing Commission (OUMVDMHC). New homes are set to the federal standard, used homes per the manufacturer's or an engineer's plan, and a certified inspector reviews a first-time installation. Homes built after 1976 need their HUD label.

Oklahoma has no statewide ban on pre-1976 homes. A used home can be installed following the manufacturer's manual, a generic setup, or an engineer's plan, done by a licensed installer. Local zoning may still restrict placement in some areas.

The transport permit belongs to the mover — the DPS Size & Weight permit is issued to the carrier. As a concierge move, the licensed carrier holds the permit for you.

Installation is handled by a licensed installer; anyone acting as a contractor or subcontractor must hold their own installer license. Oklahoma doesn't have a homeowner-held state installation permit, so the licensed installer carries that role.
